According to physicists, the Nymi belt is like a watch that allows people to use their own unique "heart signature" - electrocardiogram (ECG) for identification. In response, Halifax Bank said at a recent press conference that they undertook a “concept demonstration” to test whether the Nymi tape can reduce the need for users to remember their daily passwords while ensuring their security.
ECG signatures can replace online banking passwords. James Templeton of Wired magazine said: "In a conceptual demonstration experiment that records the rhythm of a person's heart rhythm with an ECG wristband, it can be used to log into an online banking service station." This technology combines related apps via Bluetooth and is available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android systems.
Mark Ryan, Director of Innovation and Digital Development at Halifax Bank, said: "We are still at a very early stage in exploring the potential uses of Nymi and wearable technologies. These can help us improve our services and further understand how to best use them. satisfy customer needs."
Unlike fingerprint or iris scanning, Ryan said: “ECG is a biometric indicator that is a key signal to the body and therefore provides a natural and powerful protection against intrusion and counterfeiting. This technology is about the safety of the heart. Looping can prevent scammers from entering the service station with stolen ECG."
